[Release Week Blog Party Day 4 - Giveaway ] A Tragic Wreck ~ T.K. Leigh

A Tragic Wreck is a much more emotional read than A Beautiful Mess is. In my first draft of the story I never had Olivia leaving Alexander. But the more I thought about it, the more that didn’t make sense given her character. This is a girl who, throughout her life, was so scared to get close to people. So we needed to see her suffer an immeasurable loss, and a loss that she caused, to make her realize that her ways needed to change. So that’s why I had her leaving. She wasn’t the type of person to change her ways overnight and immediately jump into a relationship. We needed to see the turmoil within caused by her own actions. And that’s what we see while she’s in Florida and then when she returns to Boston. The first half of the book is very emotionally charged and the reader can really feel the character’s emotions; the ups and downs. We cry when they cry. We laugh when they laugh. I loved writing this part of Olivia and Alexander’s story and I hope you enjoy reading about it and it brings you at least some temporary closure in certain respects.

[Release Week Blog Party Day 3 - Giveaway ] A Tragic Wreck ~ T.K. Leigh

Welcome to Day 3!!!! A question I get a lot is how I came up with the idea behind these books. Well, it’s hard to really pinpoint where the idea came from. I had a rough concept in my head but it was nowhere near what the story ended up being. A lot has changed since I began writing and I’m very happy with the way everything has turned out. There will be lots of twists and turns. You will get some questions answered by the end of A Tragic Wreck but not all of them. It is a three-book series, although when I was writing Alexander and Olivia’s story, I thought it would be a stand-alone piece until I stepped back and saw I had a 325,000 word manuscript. So I chose to break it into three books.

So I hope you’re all enjoying A Tragic Wreck and for those of you who have already finished it, I hope you got some of your questions answered and the ending left you a little more satisfied than the ending of A Beautiful Mess. For those of you who haven’t finished it yet, I hope you’ve stocked up on tissues… I think the most heartbreaking part of this part of their story is both of them being surrounded by constant reminders of what they had both lost through everything.

[Release Week Blog Party Day 2 - Giveaway ] A Tragic Wreck ~ T.K. Leigh

Happy Official Release Day!!!! WOOT! I didn’t think this day would ever get here. The official release date for A Beautiful Mess was October 8, 2013. My ARCs were finished in mid-August and shortly after they had been distributed, I started to receive great reviews. So I debated whether to hold off and publish on my originally scheduled date or to just go ahead and hit that little publish button early. I had no idea how to promote or market my book yet. Hell, I would have been happy if ten people purchased my book, so I didn’t understand how to build hype. So I hit that little publish button on August 27th, publishing A Beautiful Mess way ahead of schedule.

Little did I know on that date that it would garner the praise and support that it did. It’s still a little overwhelming to hear how much people love Mr. B. and swoon over his devotion to Olivia. There are so many amazing moments in A Tragic Wreck that just makes us feel these characters’ pain even more. This one gets me every time…

A little girl lay in a hospital bed. Tubes were attached to her and a machine measuring her heartbeat maintained a steady rhythm. That’s all Olivia heard for days, the constant beep…beep…beep… Voices sounded around her. She recognized some of them and desperately willed her eyes to open, but she couldn’t muster the strength. She felt something against her arm. Mr. Bear. Pulling the bear closer, she cried, wondering if anyone could even see the tears that fell from her eyes.

Hours passed. Maybe days. Olivia had no idea. She felt a small hand, not much bigger than her own, take hers. It had to belong to a child. “Olibia. You need to wake up now. Please,” the voice begged. Olivia tried and tried to open her eyes, but she couldn’t.

[Release Week Blog Party - Day 1] A Tragic Wreck ~ T.K. Leigh

Happy Release Week Party friends! I’m so excited to FINALLY be able to share the continuation of Olivia and Alexander’s story with you all. I loved A Beautiful Mess but I love A Tragic Wreck even more. While I was editing it and getting it ready for publication, even though I had already read it hundreds of times before, I still found myself getting emotional at certain times. It’s a rollercoaster of a story and I hope you are all ready for the ride.

There’s going to be a lot of angst, a lot of screaming at your kindle for the characters to do certain things. One simple action could fix everything, but do they do that? Like here for instance…

God, I love that sound, he thought as his body came alive with electricity. It had been over a month since he had felt that sensation. Looking out over the horizon, his heart raced as he searched for the source of that laughter. He heard that sound in his dreams every night. Only one person had a laugh that beautiful. He was certain his Olivia was near. Grabbing his coffee, he walked over to the edge of his balcony, taking in several people running on the beach.

That’s when his heart almost stopped.

There she was, running up the shoreline toward his hotel. He stilled, watching as she placed one leg in front of the other in rapid succession, her hips moving in perfect rhythm. She made running look so easy.

His brain tried to tell his body to move, to run out of his suite and onto the beach. But he remained completely frozen, shock etched across his strong face. He stared as Olivia stopped running, looking in the direction that she had just come from. He could almost feel her smile as she stood gazing up the beach, laughing at something. Alexander followed her eyes to see a relatively tall man running toward her, obviously having trouble keeping up. He kept watching as she took a deep breath, the smile gone from her face. She slowly turned and looked out over the ocean.

And that’s when Alexander saw it. The sadness. The hurt. The loss. He knew that look all too well.

Because it was the same way he felt.

To start the party off right, here’s a brand new teaser from A Tragic Wreck.

The pain was back. It never really left, but Olivia had felt hopeful earlier when she decided to return to Boston and pour her heart out to Alexander. But now it had returned and the hurt was too much. She needed something to dull the ache. Her heart beat rapidly and she felt a panic attack coming on. Running to the bathroom, she rummaged through her medicine cabinet looking for the bottle Dr. Greenstein had prescribed to help with her anxiety.

She grabbed it and walked downstairs with her laptop, searching for the bottle of bourbon she was sure had her name on it. Popping two valium, she gulped down the liquid, thankful for the warmth spreading through her body. After throwing another couple of valium pills into her mouth and finishing almost half the bottle of alcohol, the pain … was finally dulled. The last thing she remembered was staring out at the crashing waves of the ocean before the numbness took over.
